Customers accusing Wells Fargo and National General Insurance of tacking on pointless auto insurance coverage to spice up automobile mortgage payments are requesting approval of a $393.5 million settlement. Negotiations with the businesses started in May 2018, and final Thursday the plaintiffs submitted their movement for preliminary approval of the category motion settlement. Wells Fargo already paid $1 billion to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency in April 2018.
